Camille  A. "Cam" Morvant

Lafourche Parish District Attorney

Drugs

It's no secret; drugs account for many violent crimes such as robberies, thefts, and even murders. Drug dealers must be kept off the streets of Lafourche Parish. The District Attorney's Office continues to prosecute and convict those criminals who are in the business of dealing drugs.

Secondly, we continue to be an integral part of Drug Court. The District Attorney serves as the "gatekeeper" of Drug Court, by determining which cases should be referred into the program. This office screens cases, conducts background checks, and makes recommendations to the Drug Court Judge. The program offers those with personal drug problems an opportunity to turn around a situation before a life is lost.

Drug Court involves an intensive 18 - 24 month program which helps individuals overcome drug dependency with professional counseling and treatment.
