Camille  A. "Cam" Morvant

Lafourche Parish District Attorney

PTI

The Pre-Trial Intervention (PTI) program offers first time and often youthful offenders who qualify a chance to receive probation and to discourage any future criminal or disorderly behavior. It provides alternatives to jail, such as community service and restitution. Participation in educational as well as rehabilitative programs is often required.  With this program, we have lessened the burden of the Courts, we have saved valuable time, and we have used this program with compassion in certain instances all while making sure the program is never used as an easy "out" for a criminal who should be locked up.

To be eligible for participation in this program, the offense must be limited to first time nonviolent crimes. Participants are selected once offenders meeting this criteria are referred to the program following a review of pending charges by staff members of the District Attorney's office. After additional review and gathering of past criminal record and history, an all facts are obtained, a letter is sent to the offender scheduling an appointment.  If the offender then decides to participate in this program, due to a limited budget for the program, an enrollment fee is required and is based on the crime.

If you have any questions regarding the PTI program, the Director may be reached at (985) 447-2003.
