Worthless Checks

Many citizens and merchants requested a "bad check" program. This District Attorney's office responded with action. The office has hired a special investigator to find elusive perpetrators which provides us an efficient and effective means to secure convictions and obtain restitution on behalf of Lafourche Parish victims.

Only NSF or Account Closed checks are accepted in this program.

The District Attorney's office will mail a certified letter on behalf of the aggrieved party and schedule court dates. If payment is not made after 10 day notice, a deputy is sent to issue a citation for Court appearance. A warrant for arrest is then issued if unable to locate the check writer. The program is designed to assist innocent parties collect money rightfully owed them from bad checks.
